Preservation Group

Welcome to
Woodhatch Green Spaces  Preservation Group

We are a local community group, formed by local volunteers, who all share a passion to protect and preserve local green spaces in Woodhatch. We work closely with the local council (Reigate and Banstead Borough Council), offer opportunities to volunteer, and deliver projects that aim to improve and enhance local green spaces for the enjoyment of the community.

About us

We originally formed in November 2020, in response to Reigate and Banstead Borough Council application to build a crematorium on New Pond Farm, a highly valued and well used countryside site. Our members reviewed and responded to the planning application. The application was REFUSED by Reigate and Banstead Planning Committee on 29 September 2021 (See News for further information). Our members believe the whole site should continue to serve the community as it is, providing the opportunity for informal recreation, the opportunity to grow your own produce and enjoy access to the countryside and associated health benefits.

We welcome all volunteers

Our constitution:

Our constitution sets out the group's aims and objectives:

To protect and preserve for the benefit of the public the physical and natural environment of Woodhatch open spaces, sport and recreation areas, with a specific focus on New Pond Farm as a Site of Nature Conservation Importance (SNCI) and within a Bio-Diversity Opportunity Area (BOA).

To promote and encourage use of the facilities as above for the health and well-being of the public.

To oppose inappropriate development where such development is in conflict with the above aims and objectives.

What we do:

We are an ambitius group.

We work closely with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, local conservation groups, other charities and community groups that share similar aims and objectives in order to protect and preserve the green spaces in Woodhatch.

Our constitution allows the raising of funds, and applying for grants where projects further the groups aims and objectives. We aim to deliver projects that will enhance and preserve green spaces in Woodhatch, and achieve a balance between preserving and enhancing the natural habitat and bio-diversity value, with recreational uses.
