Welcome to
Woodhatch Green Spaces  Preservation Group

We are a community group, run by local volunteers who share a passion to protect and preserve green spaces in Woodhatch.

About us

Established in November 2020 to protect green spaces around New Pond Farm. We have since evolved into a community group of volunteers working collaboratively with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, extending our efforts beyond the care of New Pond Farm to include Woodhatch Park, Lonesome Lane and surrounding green spaces.

We believe these outdoor areas should continue to serve the community, providing opportunities for informal recreation, access to the countryside, and associated health benefits.

We work collaboratively with other local organisations where possible.

New Pond Farm

A former agricultural site located along Earlswood Brook. The area was farmed until the mid-20th century, becoming open meadowland over time, and is now designated as a Site of Nature Conservation Interest, used for public recreation.

What we do:

We are an ambitious group.

As an enthusiastic volunteer group, we remain dedicated to our green spaces working with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council and other local conservation groups with similar aims and objectives through regular litter picking, development of a community orchard, participation in local events (Woodhatch Centre, Dovers Green school) and planning future projects that help residents make the most of these important outdoor areas.

We rely on the generosity of our community to help us protect Woodhatch’s green spaces. You can support us through one-off donations, sponsoring a fruit tree in our orchard, or participating in our local fundraising activities. We also actively apply for environmental grants to fund larger projects.

You’re welcome to join us on the first Sunday of every month, weather permitting, for a litter pick starting at Woodhatch Park.

Our constitution:

Our constitution sets out the group's aims and objectives:

To protect and preserve for the benefit of the public the physical and natural environment of Woodhatch open spaces, sport and recreation areas, with a specific focus on New Pond Farm as a Site of Nature Conservation Importance (SNCI) and within a Bio-Diversity Opportunity Area (BOA).

To promote and encourage use of the facilities as above for the health and well-being of the public.

To oppose inappropriate development where such development is in conflict with the above aims and objectives.
